Serves: 6
INGREDIENTS :
All-purpose flour 2 cup + 2 tbsp
Warm water 1/2 cup
Water 1/2 cup
Salt 1/2 tsp
Sugar 3 tbsp
Milk powder 3 tbsp
Instant yeast 2 tsp
Oil 3 tbsp
Cold milk to brush
Sesame seeds 1 tbsp
Butter to brush after baking
PREPARATION :
Heat a small frying pan add 2 tbsp of all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup of water, stir it well so it becomes a paste without any lump, you need to cook that till it thickens well, once done keep it aside.
In a bowl add salt, sugar, milk powder, and yeast mix it and add 1/2 cup of warm water, stir it and wait for few seconds for the yeast to activate.
In a large bowl take the flour and the paste that we made, now add the yeast mixture and start kneading the dough, while kneading add the oil 1 tbsp at a time.
After you have added the oil and everything is well incorporated take the dough of a flat surface and knead the dough for at least 10 minutes.
Keep the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth in a warm place for at least 1 hour.
Once the dough has doubled in size, tip it onto a lightly floured surface and split the dough into 6 even pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper or a silicone liner. Leave the dough on the baking tray by covering again by a damp cloth for 30 minutes– the buns will almost double in size again and will go puffy.
Preheat the oven @ 180°C.
Brush each bun with a little cold milk. This is what gives them that glossy golden brown look. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown all over.
Once the buns are out of the oven brush them with a little butter, this gives a glow on your buns😊.
Your homemade burger buns are ready.
Note :
The temperature of the oven varies from one another, so keep a close eye on the buns after 18 minutes, so your buns don't get burnt. Mine are always perfectly done in 22 minutes😊.
